The Economics Working Group met on January 9, 2001. Attending were Zachary Lamb, Will Berson, John Snedeker, Morgan Rees, Larry Keegan, Terry Stratton, Doug Plachy, and this writer. Guest included Zach Jeffries, Bob Davis and Steve DeKrone of Port Data Systems.

There was a discussion about record keeping for the EWG. White papers and other documents produced by the EWG will be posted to the website and considered to be works in progress until the EWG makes a recommendation to the SEG. Revisions to such documents will be posted as produced.

The EWG will proceed with the development of white papers. Morgan will provide a list of literature research for the last 1 ½ years.

Morgan is consulting with GPA on the design vessel paper which focuses on a qualitative assessment rather than a strictly quantitative assessment.

There was a brief discussion on how the EWG will access information that it does not have.

There was an extensive discussion of peer review of the revised economics analysis with agreement to continue discussion of the topic. We will investigate relevant peer review processes.
