The agenda for this meeting was agreed upon by the attendees. It was as follows:
I. Finish Discussion of Fleet Projections White Paper
II. Discuss tentative agenda for NR Forum, if available
I. Fleet Projections White Paper - Discussion was began and a small summary was given as to where the EWG had left off at the last meeting. We began with looking at Assumption G.
Assumption G : Forecast methodology is same for World fleet & Savannah fleet
Ali Rees is currently producing a real comparison table of Projections of 2000 Fleet(World & Savannah) vs real 2000 Fleet data. The fleet projection methodology was changed, according to Morgan Rees, during the first Booz Allen study process due to changes that took place in the study methodology for the Port of Oakland,CA. It was only changed for the Asia-US, East Coast trade route. They did not change it for any other route only because there was not time and the outcome of the analysis would not have changed . EWG came to consensus to accept a new configuration/comparison of data by Morgan & Ali Rees to validate World/Savannah Fleet Projections of 2000 vs Actual World/ Savannah Fleet Data of 2000. This will establish a level of confidence to either accept or discard projections made in this last study.
Examine Item J : Larger ships will result in fewer port calls.
EWG came to consensus that this item is captured within fleet distribution items and not necessary to be a single item.
II. Discussion of tentative agenda for NR Valuation Forum
Dave Kyler (Center For A Sustainable Coast, EWG member) was unable to physically attend the meeting. He was able to have a short conference call to the group and e- mailed an agenda thru Larry Keegan. Mr. Keegan printed the e-mail and distributed copies to the group for review and discussion. It was decided by the EWG to ask Mr. Kyler to circulate the tentative agenda to any possible co-sponsors for feedback. Mr. Kyler can report back to the EWG ; then the EWG can continue discussions.
Please note that the last three White Papers were handed out to the EWG for review and future discussions. It is also noted that Will Berson, GA Conservancy, left the meeting at 11:10am due to a need to consult with his agency .
Meeting was adjourned at 11:59am and a tentative date was set for the next EWG meeting. The date was Feb. 19, 2002 at Lockwood-Greene. Time to be determined. NOTE- Morgan & Ali Rees will format a White Paper response sheet and e-mail it to all EWG members. This will be in an attempt to gauge issues and amount of feedback ahead of the next meeting. NOTE - The Savannah USACE EWG members will be included in the distribution of this e- mail.
Respectfully Submitted,
