1. Two proposed Study Descriptions were reviewed, having titles as follows:

A. Comprehensive Benefit-Cost Study For The Beneficial Use Of Dredged Materials Savannah Harbor Expansion Project.

B. Comprehensive Benefit-Cost Study For The Beneficial Use Of Dredged Materials Savannah Harbor Maintenance Projects.

2. It was determined that additional language would be added to the proposed study descriptions in order to clarify that one of the ultimate objectives is to link harbor deepening projects with beach renourishment projects so as to increase societal benefits through increased beneficial use of dredged materials.

3. It was determined that the revised study outlines would be presented to the SEG with the request that all interested members identify what benefits and what costs they would like to see included in the comprehensive benefit-cost studies, as well as whatever other concerns, suggestions, or revised study descriptions, for final recommendations to the SEG at the April SEG meeting.

4. A letter from the City of Tybee Island to Congressman Jack Kingston was distributed to committee members. The letter requested that suggested language be added to the FY 2001 energy & Water Development Appropriations Act, under the O&M Program, that includes funding to accomplish a study to identify and quantify the economic, environmental and social positive and negative impacts of depositing excavated sediments in the nearshore area of adjacent beaches, rather than at the Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site or confined disposal areas.
