Beach Erosion Committee Meeting, May 17, 2000

Attendees: Larry Keegan

Bill Farmer

The single Agenda Item was to determine what the Beach Erosion Committee should do to facilitate a meeting between the Georgia Ports Authority and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers pertaining to the accomplishment of a two-part Benefit-Cost Study approved by the SEG at the May 2, 2000 SEG meeting, and recommended to the GPA & USACE for implementation.

A Matrix was reviewed that explored the various alternative study particulars. Larry Keegan indicated that GPA was going to meet to discuss the particulars of the study, etc. Following this meeting, more insights would be available on what, if anything, the Beach Erosion Committee should do to assist in the process.

The Engineering Design Memorandum for the 1975 Tybee Island Project was discussed, since accomplishing all or some of the deferred work from the 1975 Project is to be evaluated as part of the Benefit-Cost Study, and also since the Report contained some technical data on sand movement, erosion, currents, etc.
